I Chronicles 28:9b “…He searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought.” (ESV)
That passage causes two responses in me. But both are humbling. I am humbled to know that He loves me so much. He searches and knows my heart, plans and thoughts. And, I am humbled to the point of wilting in shame. He searches and knows my heart, plans and thoughts.
How patient He is to not break in and correct us each time we are off course.
He is our perfect Father.
Any parent who could know fully their child’s heart, plans and thoughts might be in constant lecture mode. Yet, He is patient…teaching and leading for our good in His perfect timing. That we could only live a life that is pleasing and honoring to Him. Especially that of our thought lives.
We must seize and put the cuffs on each thought that doesn’t bring him glory. Then make that thought obey Him. The Message puts it this way, “fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ“.
I Chronicles 28:9a “…serve Him with a whole heart and with a willing mind.”
So, be encouraged. He loves us enough to truly know us. Let that motivate you to develop the discipline of making our thoughts submit to our Creator. Don’t give up. It is worth the effort to keep at it. “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” (ESV) Lean on Him.
